Singing Women of South Texas
Because We Believe Concert Series
6:00 PM
The mission of the Singing Women of Texas (SWOT) is to glorify God and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ through music; provide opportunities for Christian growth, mission service, inspiration and fellowship; and encourage musical excellence within the local church. Members of SWOT are church staff members and choir members, music educators in schools and universities and others who love to praise the Lord through singing.
The Baptist General Convention of Texas sponsors eight chapters across the state. Each chapter meets monthly to prepare for concerts at local churches or other ministry venues. Regional chapters frequently combine music ministry with service in facilities such a homeless or women’s shelters, food pantries and retirement communities. Often two or more chapters will unite for a music mission trip or a special concert event.
Formed by the Texas Baptist in 1994, this year the Singing Women of Texas celebrated twenty-five years of ministry! To commemorate this landmark, all chapters met in June at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor to perform a concert and record a new collection of songs which are available as a CD or digital download.
The Singing Women of Texas combined choir has been featured at the Texas Baptists Annual Meeting, the Baptist Church Music Conference and the Alleluia! Church Music Conference. They have crossed the Texas borders to sing and share the Gospel throughout the U.S., including Colorado, New England, the southeastern states and or nation’s capital.
