Why do we give?
God Himself is a giver. He gave the earth and all that is in existence. When His creation chose to discount His gift He even went on to give His life to satisfy the price for creation’s rebellion. When Jesus Christ rose from the grave he gave eternal life to all who will believe in him. If we are to try and be like Jesus we should live as givers also.
“The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it…” —Psalm 24:1. He is not in need of our gifts. As stewards of His resources we give back to Him a part of what he has given to us as an act of worship. We are a grateful people and recognize that even the part we do not give back is His.
As God has blessed us we bless Him by providing for the work He has set before us and to so that His storehouse would be full.
“But just as you excel in everything–in faith, in speech, in knowledge,
in complete earnestness and in your love for us–see that you excel in this grace of giving.”
-2 Corinthians 8:7

More about giving…
What is a tithe?
We believe that we are to follow God’s call (both Old and New Testament) for generosity. “Tithe” means “tenth” or 10 percent. We tithe this because
- Giving of our firsts involves faith–the essential ingredient to bring God pleasure, and
- It is the first part of empowering freedom through our resources to live life abundantly.
What is an offering?
We believe that we are stewards of what God has given us. Therefore, we see tithing as giving God back what is His already (giving our first 10% in faith frees up the 90% to go further than the 100%). Giving an offering beyond this is a further response to our love for God. This type of sacrificial giving is over and above and should also be done with cheerfulness.
Financial Support is not about giving us your money, it is about what God can do through a group of people who are united in their love and commitment to Him.
