HISTORY OF KCYR
January 2023, KCYR was brought fully in-house. Hand selecting our lineup from theologically-sound songs, always looking for music to share that honors God.
In June of 2013 KCYR 101.5 FM was blessed to contract with Salem Music Network for 24/7 programming. Our partnership with Salem allows local programming in the station as well as resources to provide quality programming throughout the day.
On February 2, 2004 KCYR-LP went on the air at 10:00 AM with a 24/7 satellite feed from CHRSN. Listeners from as far as 12 miles away can get a strong signal.
In 2000 the Federal Communications Commission created the Low Power FM, LPFM, classification. LPFM allowed Non-Profit entities to own FM broadcast stations limited to 100 watts of transmitted power and an antenna height not to exceed 100 ft above average terrain. Shortly after Texas entities were able to submit applications for licenses God sparked a vision at Trinity for a station to reach those in their teens to 35 years of age with popular Christian music.
