Shout Out to Faithful Servants

by Pattie Davis

The Sunday morning bus ministry to Juniper has been running continuously for slightly over a year now.  It began in April 2022. We would like to recognize all those who have made this service operate smoothly. The list includes Stan Foskett, Sean Sontag, Melissa Hufstedler, Tommy and Sue Owens, Christy Bell, Mary and Mike Olden, Tim and Violet Matthias, Wayne and Pat Fifer, and Bob and Pattie Davis. Additionally, we have Wayne Comer to thank for his craftsmanship of the “perfect” step to facilitate getting in and out of our Trinity bus. The riders comment on that step every week, as well as how thankful they are to have the bus ministry running.  If you are interested in knowing more about this ministry and ways you can help, please contact Pattie Davis at 512-940-1689 or the church office at 830-895-0100.

College and Young Professionals

Would you invest money in a retirement account if you didn’t know that money would grow and provide you with financial support in your golden years? Probably not! Spiritual investment is sometimes different than future financial planning. The result of some Kingdom investments will never be known this side of heaven.

Investments we make in young adults who are in college or testing the waters of the work force can seem risky. “They don’t give to the church!” “We can’t count on them being here.” These are just two observations (complaints, perhaps) about those in their 20 and 30-somethings.

Trinity’s College and Young Professionals’ ministry seeks to engage young adults in a vibrant discipleship life. Navigate is the Sunday night worship and fellowship arm of this ministry. We offer this ministry knowing that Trinity Baptist Kerrville may never reap the results that we are accustomed to from other church members. However, God has given us different evaluation standards. If we are willing to look at the big picture, we might see a 23-year-old woman today become an international missionary worship leader 10 years from now. We might notice a 27-year-old man today who will lead the greeter’s ministry in a new church plant in an unchurched area of Los Angeles.

Would you pray about investing in young men and women who need someone to walk beside them and say “You’ve got this!”? We need 3-4 people who would consistently join us Sunday nights, build relationships with young adults, and invest in the lives that cross over the Millennials and Gen Z.

Navigate meets Sunday evenings. Doors open at 6:30 pm, worship begins at 7 pm. Share this with the young people in your life, and consider sharing in their lives!

Come and See Class

by Jay Stimson

In the first chapter of John’s gospel, Philip told Nathanael he had found the Messiah. To Nathanael’s skeptical reply, Philip said, “Come and see.”

It is in that same spirit that we extend an invitation for you to come and seek Jesus with us on Sunday mornings at 9:45 in Room 212. We are a new, co-ed class that welcomes all ages, and especially those new to Kerrville or Trinity Baptist.

We use the Explore the Bible curriculum from Lifeway and look at scripture through its ancient cultural context to not only understand how scripture was applied when it was written, but how it applies in everyday life. The words spoken by Christ still resonate today to seekers and His followers who are hungry to learn more about Him.

Teacher Jay Stimson and his wife Kandi moved to Kerrville from Castle Rock, Colorado in 2021, where they had been involved in SBC church planting. After settling in Kerrville, they found themselves at home in the fellowship at Trinity Baptist Church with like-minded Christ followers.

Trinity Baptist has many wonderful teachers and Bible Study classes from which to choose. We encourage you to find a class where you can pray for one another, grow in your faith, enjoy fellowship with other believers, and find the Messiah through the study of God’s Word. If you are wondering if this class is right for you, “Come and See!”

Stitchers for Jesus – June 2023

by Cheryll Overla

The stitching ladies are a very special group.  I can’t call them sewers anymore because in 2022 we added a new division to our group, the knitters and crocheters and now they are called “Stitchers & More”.  Besides making dresses, shorts sets, walker tote bags and quilted blankets, we now are making afghans and newborn baby hats (for a baby hospital in Guatemala). We have monthly meetings in which we bring in the items that have been handmade and sometimes our tables look like a children’s specialty store!  It is amazing to see how the Lord has blessed us with talented people who use their time and effort to serve Him by loving and caring about children in need around the world. We all love to work with our hands and we love fabrics and yarns. Isn’t it just like God to give us a love for these things and a ministry to serve Him and meet some dire and very basic needs?

In addition to the clothing, we also make the shoe bags that are used for First Blessing every year. It is already time to start getting fabric sorted and cut so the ladies can work on this year’s bags.  Also, one of our ladies is currently cutting out head dresses for the children to wear in VBS this year. They will be Israelites in several different tribes. How very exciting!

Here is what we were able to send out in 2022:  653 dresses, 54 shorts sets, 69 quilted flannel blankets, 119 afghans, 72 baby hats and 82 walker tote bags.  We are hoping to do that much or more by the end of this year, Lord willing. In August, we will have an old-fashioned sewing bee and will also work on some special projects.

There are people that greatly bless and help us keep our ministry going.  We receive monetary donations and donations of fabrics, yarn and sewing notions.  We could not accomplish as much without this help and we are thankful to each and every one. September is our 8-year anniversary and 2 ladies are still members that have been since the beginning: Sue Stewart and Rita McFaddin.

We are always happy to welcome new stitchers to the group. Does this sound like something you can do and may want to be a part of? Come check us out!
