Hello from Marriage Ministry! We are excited to have kicked off our fall “Love Like You Mean It” Class. We would like to invite you to come join us on Sunday nights to dig deeper with your spouse to develop a relationship built on what the bible defines love to be! Bob Lepine helps us dive into how God describes and displays true love; the love your soul craves, and the love God has designed for your marriage. Our first challenge was to find one small way to show your spouse patience this week. Join us as we work together as couples to serve the Lord with our marriages.

 

The marriage ministry is excited to be taking a group to San Antonio for the “Weekend to Remember”! This event will take place on November 17-19 at the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort. You can register on the Family Life Weekend to Remember website. You can choose to stay at the resort, local hotel or  commute back to Kerrville. This weekend is packed with phenomenal speakers and various materials to help grow your marriage! We love how this weekend is made for every walk of marriage; whether you are engaged, newlywed, growing through different stages with children, blending families, empty nesters reconnecting with your spouse or seasoned marriages looking at what it means to leave a legacy with your family – there is something for every stage. Jeff Stone has been very busy helping bring awareness and information about the upcoming solar eclipses to the citizens of Kerrville and the surrounding area.  That includes about 20 briefings, ranging from 15 minutes to over an hour, for groups including HOAs, civic and professional organizations, as well as other groups. There are also more planned between now and the April 8, 2024 total eclipse. If you missed his presentations at Trinity, take him out for a cup of coffee to discover more on this natural wonder from God!

 

David Clarke organized the Car Show at TBC on September 9^th. Around 20 cars came and went throughout the morning. Those who attended enjoyed themselves. 

 

Jerry Gale and others have helped build 6 ramps in conjunction with the Texas Ramp  Project in the Kerrville area over the past few months.

 

Men’s Bible study has continued with Bill Parr being the primary teacher and Rick Boles as the coordinator.

 

Mark Clemons attended the Men’s & RA Retreat at Camp Menard on September 1st and 2nd. He was able to offer Tomahawk throwing and prepare cobblers for the 180 plus that attended.

 

Many men were able to participate in the children’s camp at Alto Frio in July, helping with Bible Studies, dutch oven cooking, fishing and other activities. Thank you, Kellee Parish, for letting us join you in touching the lives of the children.

 

Plans for 2024 are being prayed about and we would love for more men to be involved. Please consider joining others as we seek the  Father’s will in regard to the Men’s Ministry at TBC.

We use a workbook, view DVDs, and have interesting and stimulating discussions. We can show you just how alone you are NOT.

“Oh, how beautiful!” “Are those for me?”  These are some of the comments we hear as we walk into a nursing home facility.

 

The flower ministry is a ministry very few people are aware of.  The ministry was started many years ago, we don’t know the exact date, by a few folks that began taking the large altar arrangement to the nursing homes. Due to the size of the  arrangement, the homes requested they have smaller vases. Residents thought someone had passed away, so they  wanted them to enjoy smaller arrangements.

 

The altar arrangements are given every Sunday by individuals who want to remember special occasions or a special holiday. We take this arrangement and give it a new look by arranging five to seven individual vases.

 

Jean Ward has been with the ministry since 2011. She is the person that keeps our records each week as to whom we will send the beautiful flowers. Our floral designer, Pam Case, does a beautiful job giving that special touch to the flowers. Helpers include Patricia Miller, Carrie Overby and Judy Southerland. We are the elves that create the colorful ribbons that go on the vases and deliver them. Each arrangement includes a message from the church that lets the recipient know they are never forgotten and that they are loved.

 

We invite you to come join us. You will be blessed with the fellowship of this ministry. We meet every Monday at 10:00am in room 121. We know this ministry has blessed many, many people that will  never come to our church but they tell others about us.

The Friendship Bible Class is true to its name – friends studying God’s Word together. Each Sunday we further unpack the sermon from the week before, and since we attend different service times, it is interesting to hear the various message interpretations.

 

Our class is faithfully led by two teachers that alternate months. Frank Brooksher and Bob Davis lead a discussion-style class with questions and input from all class members in a very informal setting throughout the hour. They have each done a more in-depth study of the message during the week, which brings out so many more interesting and thought-provoking ideas.

 

Class members of all ages, varying backgrounds, and church experience keep it interesting!  Getting deeper into the past week’s sermon gives each of us a better understanding of the Word, and more importantly, how to apply it to our own lives.

 

We have a time of sharing and praying together led by Melinda Cox, our Class Director, at the close of each class. The praises and prayer concerns are shared by email during the week to each class member.

 

We have been very involved in the Adopt-A-Grad Program for the past three years.  It has been a blessing to send gifts, treats and notes of encouragement to these recent high school graduates during their first year of college.  So far, we have adopted a total of 5 students.

The Sunday morning bus ministry to Juniper has been running continuously for slightly over a year now.  It began in April 2022. We would like to recognize all those who have made this service operate smoothly. The list includes Stan Foskett, Sean Sontag, Melissa Hufstedler, Tommy and Sue Owens, Christy Bell, Mary and Mike Olden, Tim and Violet Matthias, Wayne and Pat Fifer, and Bob and Pattie Davis. Additionally, we have Wayne Comer to thank for his craftsmanship of the “perfect” step to facilitate getting in and out of our Trinity bus. July 4^th has always been a special day of remembrance and celebration for me since I was a little boy.  My dad would take me to town to watch the 4^th of July parade.  Subsequently, I have loved those parades, especially once I understood the meaning of July 4^th by reading the Declaration of Independence.

 

 

Happiness (Joy)…”I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.”  John 15:32

 

In 1976 I was stationed at Chanute AFB, Rantoul, Illinois.  I was a Colonel and a Technical Training Group Commander with nearly 1000 students and instructors to oversee.  1976 was the 4^th of July bi-centennial celebration and Chanute had planned many activities including a parade with nearly 600 military personnel participating.  The Base community was encouraged to attend, as well as special invitations extended to the Rantoul community.  I was honored to have been chosen as the Parade Commander.

 

As I led the parade, with the flag bearers directly behind me carrying the American flag, my mind recalled those all-important words of the Pledge of Allegiance which says “…one nation, under God…”

 

I love our nation and I love a parade!
